Did the 'Banks' destroy Kashmir ?

                              ALLAH’S WAR ON KASHMIR:

          Did the “banks” bring this on us?

Over 25 years of militancy and political unrest could not wreak such havoc as the fateful morning of 7th September did. As if life came to a standstill. This day will go down in our history as the day Kashmir witnessed the Lord’s wrath!

The papers, social media, living room conversations have been saturated with details of the catastrophe. From the colossal property damage to the apathetic disaster (mis)management of the State. From the negligence of authorities to the appalling urbanization of flood channels. Sprinkle this with some “yeh hamare gunnah hain” and the few mystical dreams anticipating the flood and fiery khutbahs warning of some more. Oh yes! Don’t forget the politicizing of the flood; NC Vs PDP and BJP Vs Congress. Let’s ask the River Jehlum to vote this time, shall we!

But amidst all this, there is a silent spectator, sitting quietly on the side, shying away from the limelight. Distributing relief, here and there. Pushing it so far as giving some grace period to certain clients, but, behold! Shylock wants his ‘pound of flesh’, come rain or sun!

There are two methods to find out, who had the biggest share in bringing this doom on us:

SPIRITUAL METHOD:

In the last and the most crucial revelation to the Prophet (saw), just after the Final pilgrimage, Allah declares a “WAR” against the Banking system (harb minnAllahi wa Rasoolihi). In the entire Quran you don’t see Allah Most High declaring an open war on any other crime. The Prophet (saw) warned in a hadith when his Ummah will have fifteen traits, one of which was riba, it will be inflicted with natural disasters like earthquakes, red winds and calamities from the sky. Riba is even worse than incest with ones mother and it is one of the signs of the Last Hour. The kashmiri society is drenched in the banking system. From roads to buildings, from cars to even ‘masaajid’. The bank will also give you a loan for hajj. Even Abu jahl wouldn’t accept that. The shrine of Shaykh Mir Sayyid Yaqoub (rh) in Sonwar shares an ATM in its premises. The Torah reports of an incident when Jesus (pbuh) learnt of what the bankers were doing inside the Mosque of Jerusalem, he overturned their tables and drove them out like dogs. In the Caliphate of Umar (ra), there was a minor earthquake in Medina, immediately the Caliph gathered the people and reprimanded them as follows;” O people correct your misdeeds, If there is another earthquake, I will not stay here with you.”. Natural calamities were always taken as a serious wakeup call by the previoprevious generations. But what is interesting is that post-flood Srinagar looks very similar to post American invasion Baghdad. For people of insight, the flood was nothing short of Allah’s war unleashed on us. Water-the elixir of life is also a soldier of Allah. It did such damage that even the Indian army would not compete with it.

SCIENTIFIC METHOD:

We like it or we don’t, we live in the Himalayas. For decades now geologists have expressed worry over the weakening of the Himalayan Wall. A flood is categorized as an ecological turbulence. Either the clouds rain more than they are supposed to or the earth cannot absorb what it used to. Breaching of the banks is the aftermath. Global warming, scientists warn, could melt up the Arctic circle, bringing something similar to Noah’s Deluge. The Green House effect causes a complete disruption of the climate, weakening of glaciers, level rise in rivers, warmer climate and increased precipitation. Deforestation is the major factor for surface water run-off. The land can’t soak up the water, causing run-off and accumulation in low lying urban areas. All of these phenomena stem from Fossil Fueled over industrialization, car emissions and unaccounted urbanization. Even a 4^th class student knows that. But wait! Before you assume I am against ‘technology’. No! This wouldn’t be the case if renewable non polluting energy was used.

Now comes the nice part!

The industrial Revolution, for sure did take a toll on the environment, but the Interest based Banking system conveniently put a dagger in the environment’s chest. When the banks deployed Expansion of Credit (The Ring in Adam Smith’s words)- which is a bank loaning out more money than it possesses, there was a sky rocketing upsurge in car sales and business finances. Compare the traffic pre-J&K Bank 

low interest car finance to the traffic three days before the flood, you’ll get your answer. Now couple this with something known as the Petrodollar. All paper currencies are backed by the USD and the USD is stabilized by oil sales. Did you ever wonder why oil prices are always on a rise? Also the technology in every field is ever evolving; smart phones, tablets, talking shoes, satellite wifi- but the same old 18^th century petrol/diesel engine remains! If people turn towards renewable energy and away from oil, the entire US economy and with it the whole system of Paper currency will tumble down like a house of cards. Oops! Lagarde, it’s not a secret anymore.

Now the curtain opener! All of this jingo- expansion of credit, petrodollar, inflation, money losing its buying power, hence hooking people to bank loans, is only possible with PAPER. What you hold in your hand (newspaper) is also paper but it’s worth Rs3, other papers are worth thousands. Who gave them this magical power? Because paper money has no intrinsic value and paper and ink are available in an unlimited supply, and since 1943 it is not backed by gold (real money), banks like magicians can produce (print) as much money as they like (they call it a budget). The more they loan, the more cars there are, the crazy traffic, mass industrialization, more pollution, global warming, ecological imbalance, calamities like floods, earthquakes, sink holes, acid rains, drought and famines.

Hence we need to call a spade a spade. As responsible individuals, Muslims or morally alive people we need to call the banking system to account. Allah and His Messenger (saw) have cursed it and everyone involved in it. He (saw) referred to it being even worse than Zina! Imagine that’s how grave the sin is. There is not an evil in the world- from wars to pornography, from destitution to oppressive governments- that cannot be attributed to Banking. If we want our children to live in a prosperous and free Kashmir, we need to eradicate this cancer right here, right now. Kashmir witnessed a revolution in the 14^th century when our ancestors flocked towards the Truth (Islam). They dusted off the filth of tradition and a class divided society. Today we are at the same crossroads that early kashmiris found themselves in.

 Are we secular individuals or are we Muslims? If secularism is what we choose for ourselves, then the model of a full bloom liberal society is before us in the form of the United States. Hence, we should be well prepared when our young boys carrying guns in kindergarten mow down their own fellow classmates, because of what Assassin’s Creed has indoctrinated them with. Or when our young girls post nude pictures of themselves just to get a like from a stranger on the internet. A secular capitalist society that gave its reigns to the bankers has no option but to get imprisoned in a banker’s cage. A perfect example was US in 2008, when the American working class was brought on its knees with mass foreclosures. People who yesterday were living in luxury homes were thrown out on the streets just because they couldn’t pay the mortgage of their houses and cars. Cases of people committing minor crimes just to avail the free medical facilities in jail, is a common phenomenon. So that’s the bright shining model of a “modern” “developed” society for you.

Now for those who say, we are Muslims. Then for 14 centuries Muslims followed a consolidated socio-economic model based on equity, free and fair trade and money with intrinsic value. Just because the maulavis in the Masjids do not talk about it, doesn’t mean it wasn’t there. I see a small class of Kashmiri youth emerging, who are modern in their education, at the same time religiously inclined and not naïve and gullible. They do not belong to the “Trinity” namely-Azaadi, Political parties or Pakistan. Their vision resembles that of our forefathers who followed the likes of Shaykh Sayyid Ali Hamdani, Shaykh Hamza Makhdoomi, Shaykh Noorudin and others (RH). After removing the shackles of pagan worship, inequality and caste divisions , all our predecessors wanted was for Islam to prevail. And it did, and so did they. They prospered because they understood prosperity is not in the hands of the bankers. It belongs to Allah and He gives it to whomsoever He wishes!

The Day it all ends !

I still remember listening to the recitation of this ayat sometime back. I was making tea for myself with my mp3 in my ears playing Surah Yunus. Even though I may have heard it before, but this time it had an impact like never before. I stopped. I played it again. I stopped again to play it. Just to make sure I understood it right.
And it was as I thought. Here was Allah Most High actually conveying to us the timeframe of the destruction of Humanity. Yes we all know the exact Day is known to none except for Him. But my Lord in this ayat declares that “The End” will occur when humanity will perceive that it has reached its zenith. A station much above the successes of any civilization in the entire historical process.
So let us read what the ayat says,
“The example of this worldly life is like the rain which We have sent down from the sky that the plants of the earth absorb-from which human beings and animals eat- until, when the earth has taken on its adornment and is beautified and its people suppose that they have capability over it, there comes to it Our Command by night or by day, and We make it as a harvest, as if it had not flourished yesterday.” (10:24)
This is by far one of the most profound ayat in the whole Quran amongst many others. Allah has summed up the life of humanity in one sentence. The similitude of this worldly life is like the rain which after merging with the plant life sustains the entire humanity and animal kingdom. Notice here that the thing which sustains the entire planet is not something which is within the peripheries of human control, but rather something which comes from “above”. Water has very interesting usage in the Quran, sometimes it’s used to symbolize “revelation”, sometimes “life of this world”, sometimes ”imaan (faith)” and sometimes “knowledge”. All of which have been important provisions of the human beings worldly sojourn.
Then Allah Most High says that after the earth and everything on it has come alive, the earth takes on its garb of beauty and adornment. This is when the worldly life becomes beautiful. This is progress, civilization, development. The earth now is glittering with glamour like never before. After all we are the ones who can make deserts into green gardens. We are the ones who can build buildings that touch the clouds. Are we not the ones who can change the night into a bright day. Are we not the ones who can increase agricultural produce ten times inside our labs? Certainly we are the ones who after showing deep ingratitude to the Creator, can alter anything that He made from facial features to DNA composition to even gender. Allahu Akbar!
Precisely now the human being assumes, I’m completely independent. I don’t need God or spirituality. I’m self sufficient. Religion and Hereafter were for people who didn’t live in a Progressive Modern Age like me. A control system for the primitive, but now it is ME who is in power.
THIS IS THE GREATEST HUMAN FOLLY !
When this happens, it is then that you must await the End.
“..there comes to it (the world) Our command by night or by day, and We make it as a harvest, as if IT HAD NOT FLOURISHED YESTERDAY.”

This warning is reiterated in various surahs of the Quran. From Surah Kahf where its mentioned thrice to Surah Qalam with the parable of the beautiful garden. In various sayings of the Prophet (pbuh) we are told that in the Age of Dajjal the earth is going to beautify itself. Treasures will follow him and various scientific achievements from the aircraft to the space shuttle can be attributed to the False Messiah from Hadith analysis.
Is it not time for the wise minds to ponder and reflect over the reality of what the Modern world pushes as “progress” or “development”? Does it have any substance or is it the Frankenstein’s monster ready to annihilate the one who created and took pride in it. After all, the reality on ground is that urbanization has displaced scores of people, industrialization has stabbed the environment, GM food poisons the food chain, Capitalism has lead to the radical impoverishment of society modern lifestyle has lead to a growing rate of depression, cosmetic surgeries are a cause of further discontent and objectification of women, the debt based global economic system has entire countries burdened with debt and liberal democracy! Well, let’s not dwell into whether that is an actual term or just a euphuism for a totalitarian corporatocracy!
A closer look at the disparity between “appearance” and “reality” should be sufficient to tell us that this is nothing but the “Amr (Command)” of Allah manifest. It is a system that is crumbling to bits and shaking in its very foundations, environmentally, socially, politically, economically.
And if there is anything that we can be sure of, it is that even if the human being reached the deepest recesses of the Universe, still he is within the vast dominion of his Creator, never free of need, never independent. But who will understand that? The ayat ends with,
“Thus do We explain in detail the signs for a “people who give thought”.(10:24)

Dajjal the False messiah and Super Powers.

I always used to think as a child whilst studying history in school, how did an Island so small and obscure like Britain become a superpower, a great empire. Lurking in the Dark Ages, no mention of Europe in the glorious civilizations of the East. How did they suddenly rise up with their scientific and industrial revolutions to take over the world.  

No one could give me a substantial answer. 

I was 19 and i grew up to become religious and still i wondered "how come Allah and His Messenger (saw) didnt warn us about another power, another civilization that would emerge in the West, like a new sun that rose from the West, completely godless and corrupt, but yet controlling the worlds resources. No muslim scholar gave me a substantial answer. Usually they didnt have much knowledge about World history. 

Until one day by the grace of my Lord i read the subject of Dajjal the False messiah and how the island mentioned in Tamim Ad Dari's hadith is Britain. It was Dajjal who made Britain a ruling state two centuries back. That being what the Messenger (saw) called "a day like a year". And without doubt it is Dajjal the False Messiah who made USA a superpower and a global empire since World War 2 . The Messenger (saw) called it "a day like a month". And very soon a day like a week will begin when the state of Israel establishes global dominion over the world. Want proof for this ?

The paradoxical state of the Ummah of Muhammad (saw).

Following is the response i sent to a local newspaper :

On the auspicious occasion of Eid Milad un Nabi, I was going through the beautiful articles in Rising Kashmir on the personality of the Last Prophet (saw) and the legacy of high morals and ethics that he left behind for the whole mankind. Suddenly my eyes shifted to another column on the same page.

My heart sank as I read through this article which represented the ultimate paradox of the modern day Muslim Ummah. 

Directly beneath "Prophet Muhammad (saw)- The Ultimate role model for humanity" was a column named "A success called HDFC".This particular article was about the motivating journey of the various struggles and eventual success of a certain Banker..

I found it amusing and depressing at the same time that how can a same space contain the "Best man to have ever walked on earth" and an article about the worst catastrophies of the modern world namely Banking.

The author praised a certain Banker with the words "he created his own course of life and reached to higher echelons of society by his brilliance.” The proximity of this article to the one praising the Messenger of God (saw) reminded me of how the Prophet (saw) CURSED all four: the one who takes Interest (Bank), the one who gives interest (modern Kashmiri), the one who records it and the one who is a witness (Bank employees). In a Hadith the Prophet (pbuh) says," Allah destroys interest and blesses charity".

Easily one can see the supposed "higher echelons of society" could unfortunately lead someone to the lowest depths of Hellfire.

Then he went on to say “ (the bank) benefits a large section of the society.”

By benefit was he alluding to giving out loans to people from money created out of thin air, since all currencies now post 1974 are floating currencies, backed by nothing but illusion. Or was he alluding to the Fractional reserve system which enables a bank to loan out paper money that it doesn’t own(10-90% more than it has in its reserve). And in exchange for this ponzi scheme the bank has authority over the real assets and things of value of the borrowers.  The only benefit I can see here is the 10-50% cut the bank takes. For the people is just “inflation, lower buying power, loss of property and eventually impoverishment, suicides in some cases”.

Let me make it very clear, your Creator and His Messnger (saw) have declared a WAR against those who deal with Bank Interest. A WAR!!

So by that declaration, Allah and his Messenger (saw) are at war with almost 80-90% of Kashmiris who are busy making lavish hotels and buying cars by this accursed way. No wonder, we find ourselves in this terrible predicament of social, political and spiritual chaos.

I usually go for Jumu'ah prayers to my local Masjid. Out of all the duas the most oft repeated dua is "Bemaaran Shifa"( healing for the sick). Scores of Kashmiris, rich and poor are lined up at the chemist shops.  Why? 

Kashmir is the world most militarised state, with shamefully poor health facilities, educational institutes and employment avenues. It's not only that India or the Indian paramilitary is at war with us. One has to realise Allah and His Messenger are at war with us the day, Indian Banking monopoly hit us and we didn't even raise a finger.

If that was too far fetched, this particular article went on to say "I was always enigmatic about the achievements of this genius" about the certain banker he was praising. 

Kashmir could comfortably be called a Muslim Majority State with 95% of its population who claim to believe in Allah and His Prophets. One of the very first things we are taught as children by our local Quran teachers is the Journey of Isra wal Mi'raj in which the Prophet (pbuh) travelled to the Holy Land and then ascended to the heavens. It was there that he saw a man "swimming in a river of blood". On inquiring, he was told "This is the Banker (one who takes Interest)". Everytime the Banker tried to come out, a stone was hurled at him and he was embarrassingly thrown back in that pool of blood.

It is interesting to note why was it blood? One of the strongest tactics of the predatory elite who now rule the world and are hell bent on forming the New World Order, is to enslave the world through debt. William Shakespere being a non Muslim play write was wiser than most of the ulema who give sermons in the masjid today when he wrote the play "Merchant of Venice", where he equated the interest demanded by the money lender to a "pound of flesh" from the body of the borrower, slowly and deceitfully enslaving the borrower. 

The Indian banking cartels have a stronger presence in Kashmir, even more than the Millitary, yet the separatists are still crying for a resolution. Kashmiri elite are already enslaved to the Banks with their 100 crore loans and the poor are following suit with their car loans etc, at such a rate that even Article 370 cannot rescue us when Indian multi nationals take over the land where we as children used to play.

Now lastly I wanted to cover the statement of the author whilst describing this Banker with words  “he lived by his own values, his code of honor and ethics”.

"The way money is produced and the role of paper currency is not a secret anymore, without being backed by anything of value like gold/silver (since 1974), paper money is just pulp, ink and a printing press in the hands of central or private banks like the Federal Reserve. You don’t need a Phd in Economics to understand that this is the most UNETHICAL IMMORAL MONETARY SYSTEM ever and hence "haraam". 

What ethics is the author talking about? The same ones that took millions of lives in Iraq, or the massacre in Libya and now in Syria. All based on preserving the Petrodollar which is the only reason that paper money and hence banks and hence HDFC, J&K bank is running. (All petroleum is bought by USD, hence keeping the demand for paper money (which has no intrinsic value) alive and going.)

People who consider banking a progressive achievement of the modern world should very well know that they have the blood of thousands of innocent people on their hands, who were killed only for the preservation of the monopoly of bogus paper currency and the Unethical debt/interest based Banking Cartel, that first creates money out of something as valueless as paper and then loans out a 10-50 times bigger amount  to people (which doesn’t exist in the banks reserve) and then has the audacity to DEMAND INTEREST ON IT in exchange for their real valuable assets. Under the Fractional Reserve Banking and Quantitative easing, a bank can loan out 10-90% of paper that it actually possesses. And that is FRAUD. Example if I have NO money but still I write you a cheque worth ₹100 and then not only demand the principle amount but also 10%interest. To add to it, hold your real valuable asset on mortgage incase you are unable to repay the loan. The cheque would bounce and you would call the police on me. But the Banks are doing the same thing, their cheques don't bounce because they print more bogus paper and no one calls the police on them, because thats how this vile unethical system works.

And that is exactly why Allah says in the Quran "Those who eat riba (Interest) will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection) except like the standing of a person beaten by Shaitan (Satan) leading him to insanity. That is because they say: ‘Business is just like riba,’ whereas Allah has permitted business and forbidden riba."

Just like these people inflicted pain and misery over mankind by producing money from something as valueless as paper and the demanding interest on it. On the Day of Judgement Allah Most High will humiliate them and we will recognise these bankers by the horrendous look of insanity on their faces. 

 This peice of writing is dedicated to those who still have a sense of morality intact and denounce injustice whenever they see it. Rising Kashmir is one such name. 

 I give you a time span of 20-30 years for the fall of this bogus ponzi scheme. Welcome ! real money Dinar (gold) and Dirham (silver).

 

Efforts are being made in Malaysia and Pakistan to go back to the fair and just economic model and monetary system installed by our Beloved Prophet (saw), based on Gold and Silver. A system where value of money (foreign exchange rate) wasn’t manipulated by simple key presses on the computer keyboard somewhere in the US Fedreal reserve and where the people did not get robbed of their wealth by controlled inflation and devaluing of currency.

Also it was a sense of obligation I felt that a same page should not contain the praise of the Blessed Messenger of God (pbuh) and the praise of a profession and a man that is cursed by Allah and the Prophets in all religions including Christianity and Judaism.

I request  you to be very careful in constructing your page. Please do not place the praise of the Messenger of God (saw) on his mawlid with an article that is completely in conflict with his mission and teaching, thus making a mockery of the apathetical state that we find ourselves in as a Nation.

To laugh or to cry?

This is one of the most unfortunate paradoxes of our times. On a paper from a Muslim Majority state (Kashmir) on top you find praise of the Prophet (pbuh) and wise words on how he was sent as a Role Model for the whole humanity and a mercy. And just below it you find a Muslim columnist glorifying the advent of "Interest based Institutions" in the valley. Do note that he has the audacity to call it "success". Does he not know that the person who deals with Usury (interest) was seen by the Prophet (saw) in a "river of blood" in hellfire. 

I mean, the Messenger (saw) is AT WAR  with the person who deals with interest. Make no mistake, this is the Habeeb of Allah, if he is at war with anyone, that person is doomed. To add to the agony, Allah Most High says, even He is at war with the one who deals with interest. The case is over, Allah and his Messenger (saw) are at war with most of the people today.

Then why such a contrast in the Muslim society?

This is nothing but the abject and catastrophic failure of the Muslim Ulema and the intense materialism of this Ummah.

Many people say, Sabreen why do you speak so much about Dajjal. Often times those are the very people who have already failed the Fitnah of Dajjal. Didn't your Prophet say, "The time of Dajjal will have excessive Riba." Dajjal already has enslaved the entire mankind except a very few in his global interest based system. We are already his slaves. The loud "Allahu Akbar" at the beginning of the Salah is just a hollow declaration.. 

I pray to my Lord to save me and you from this immense Fitnah of the modern age namely of the Usury based economy and to honestly and sincerely take the Messenger (saw) as our true role model. Indeed he accepted to live in poverty but refused even a penny of unlawful income.

Gog and Magog.

I have spent years thinking why the world is in the state that it is in?

Why is there crippling poverty in the world?

Why is there moral decadence  all over the world?

Injustice, Oppression, Ruthless dictators, lies, propaganda, chaos, sectarian strifes, discrimination against women, racism, aparthied, economic slavery, debt based economy robbing wealth of poor nations.

These are just a few issues affecting us and disturbing the minds of all sensible people.

I would wonder, how come Allah Most High didn’t warn us of a time that the Muslim Ummah would be at such a low, the likes of which it has never experienced.

Who are these people who have so much power in the world today?

They make a decision to bomb a muslim country, no one can stand up against them to stop them. As if they are invincible.

I would wonder, Islam is the truth, then it should be believers who should have authority in the world.But the opposite of that is happening. Believers are persecuted, marginalised, threatened for holding on to Islam.

I would think why didn’t the Messenger (saw)  warn us about these people who would come from the West, who would first colonise our lands and when they would trick us by“decolonising” , they would install their own version of a secular nation state, a secular economic model and above all a secular way of life into which the whole humanity has been sucked into whether they like it or they don’t.

Some scholars would call the west (Europe and US) what was known in the time of the Messenger (saw) as “Rum” (Roman Byzantium).

But that also didn’t sit very well with me because the Messenger (saw) never told us that the believers would anytime become absolute slaves of “Rum”.

If you know anything about the IMF and the World Bank and in what devious ways they work, enslaving the entire world, you would know that the Ummah has become a slave of the Western Banking Cartels.

For years I would think about this. Never getting a substantial answer from an aalim. Much of what the Ulema would say would either be deficient in their understanding of the political and economic anarchy in the world. And if they would understand the situation in the world, the most they would say would be “This is the Last Age, these are fitan, the believers will have to face the fitan and then eventually the Khilafa will be established. Again devoid of substance !!

Still many questions lurking in a young mind that wants to see peace and harmony everywhere. Every human being regardless of their ethnic background, colour, creed, religion has a fundamental right to equality but all I saw was a group of nations in the West bullying the rest of the world to accept certain bizzare norms if they want to enter the so called “Civilised World”.

So, after many years of wrecking my brain on this and thinking and studying, why didn’t the Messenger (saw) leave us some indication on this amongst the Signs of the Last Age. I mean, my beloved Messenger (saw) even told us the most trivial signs of the Last Age like the talking shoe, talking whip, people driving mayathir (cars) etc, women dressed yet naked. So why wouldn’t he inform us about the advent of a Civilization from the West just like the Rising of the Sun, that would dazzle the world with its scientific, industrial feats but at the same time corrupt the world with blasphemous concepts like soveriegnty belongs to the UN not the Lord who created everything, that something as worthless as paper is money, that it is ok for a man to have sex with a man, when even animals don’t do such “unnatural and bizzare vulgar acts”. The use of the notion of Freedom of Speech to corrupt our youth with the Pornography Industry which is a Billion dollar industry now. All of these concepts were unknown to the world some hundred years back. And amazingly, if you pay attention, every type of filth is coming from one direction and one direction only- WEST.

Even terrorism??

Yes they manufacture them also !

And finally after a very long quest, my question was answered.

Who are these people who rule the world today with unjust and oppressive power the likes of which the world has never seen?

None other than Yajooj and Majooj.

 

Ofcourse, my Lord didn’t leave us without guidance in these difficult times.

Ofcourse, my beloved Messenger (saw) did convey the Message with perfection informing us that the world would witness a race of people who would take over the world, just like Zulqarnain, once ruled, they would rule. But they would do so by evil means.

So I ask you to help me in my research on this most important subject.

May Allah Azawajal accept this from me and forgive me for all the mistakes that I may make. I ask Him for His guidance and His Noor, as this is a tedious task ahead of me.
